Is Sean Penn Gay?

Famous Hollywood actor Sean Penn has been the subject of much speculation around the Preble Post Office ever since Milk wound up in our Blockbuster queue. In the movie, Penn plays Harvey Milk, the first gay governor of California. He had some very convincing “love scenes” in that movie, and in his speech at the academy awards he spoke out against anti-gay discrimination.

So, inquiring minds want to know: is Sean Penn gay in real life? Find out after the jump.

No, Sean Penn is not gay! He is just a very talented actor.

Though Penn played a gay man in Milk, most of his memorable roles have been straight characters. Penn has played straight men in Fast Times in Ridgemont High, Carlito’s Way, and Dead Man Walking. In his upcoming movie, “Fair Game” he plays a man named Joseph C. Wilson, who is not only not gay, but also married!

In his personal life, Sean Penn has had a number of relationships with female actresses and singers. He went out with Susan Sarandon and Elizabeth McGovern, then married Madonna in 1985, then divorced her and married Robin Wright, the delightful actress who played Buttercup in The Princess Bride. He had two kids with Buttercup (congratulations Sean!), but unfortunately, that marriage did not work out either, and the couple separated amicably this summer.

Have something to say about it?
