BengalsWatch: Is Andy Dalton the Next John Elway?

Welcome to the very first NFL Blog Post on the Preble Post! We might not have an NFL football team of our own here in Preble, but most of us live just an hour and a half away from Cincinnati, so we’re die-hard BENGALS fans around here. Can I get a “Who Dey!?!?!”

Yesterday, our hometown Bengals put up a spirited performance against a legendary NFL franchise, the Denver Broncos, and the Broncos barely came out of it alive. Final score: BENGALS 22, Broncos 24. Personally, I thought the refs made a number of questionable calls that changed the outcome of the game, and it could just as easily gone the other way.

The biggest bright spot for the Bengals was the heroic performance of our young wonderkid quarterback Andy Dalton, who is shaping up to be a surefire Rookie-of-the-year candidate. Andy came back from a gruesome wrist injury suffered during the HUGE win against the Browns last week, to lead the Bengals to near-victory against the Broncos. He threw for an amazing 322 yards and two TD yesterday (“look, Ma, no picks!”)

The fact that Dalton put up these superstar numbers against the Broncos got me to thinking: is Andy Dalton walking in the footsteps of another great quarterback, Denver’s own John Elway? After all, Andy Dalton has three touchdowns and no interceptions through his first two games, while John Elway has twice as many picks as TDs his rookie season (did you know that?)! I’m not saying Andy Dalton is already as good as Elway in his prime, but he sure is on the right track.

What hall-of-fame quarterback do you think Andy Dalton resembles? Let us know in the comments!

Have something to say about it?
